There has been a rather large, unaddressed gap between LEED and the Living Building Challenge green building systems. To fill that gap and move the market forward at an appropriate pace, there is now a framework to use that is simple and outlines 10 best practice achievements for projects to pursue while still defining a high-level environmental responsibility. The Core Green Building Certification℠ (Core) is that simple framework. It puts the connection to nature, equity and the need for a building to be loved on even footing with the typical water, energy and materials concerns. Core seeks to rapidly diminish the gap between the highest levels of established green building certification programs such as LEED Platinum and the aspirations of the Living Building Challenge.
